Older People and people with dementia

Why is there so much fuss about people over a certain age having sex? Are you an under 65 with children and how would you feel if they wanted to decide if you should have sex and with whom?

Many of us are for various reasons and at various times somewhat questionable in the decisions we make - have you ever had sex under the influence of prescribed, illicit or alcoholic substances? Do you have a mental/physical illness and if so would you accept that you have no right to make your own decisions?

People with dementia generally can and do have the capacity to make decisions and let us know if they are happy or unhappy with what they are doing.

The problem usually is that WE do not provide or respect their privacy. WE are overly protective. The following links may tell you more!
